What happened?
Sable began opening night at the Spirit of Foolishness, although nobody knew it was opening night yet. In a burst of thing-making, they produced a ticket stub, folded curtain, cardboard moon, scenery rail, two-faced actor, impossible-window backdrop, applause card, trapdoor, stagehand, flat proscenium, triangle pit and paper ghost.
Only after making most of the company did Sable build the Paper Theater in First Town. The room kept the mistake instead of tidying it away: the pub-table rehearsal became founding history, and the old props remained the original company despite still being located at the pub.
The new stage was deliberately tiny and honest about its construction. Three mismatched chairs faced cream card, folded red curtains, visible tape and floor slots for hand-moved scenery. Backstage held whatever fell behind the curtain; the audience side became a separate three-seat address for programs, heckles and reviews.
The actual cardboard moon had not moved from the Spirit of Foolishness. Sable therefore hired a yellow-rimmed dinner plate with three blue flowers as understudy. Its listed qualifications were simply that it was round.
In the four-scene performance, the actor immediately objected that the plate was not the moon. The ghost argued for giving it the part. An unexplained pencil moustache appeared, the stagehand pulled a panic tab and blackout required somebody to hold black card in front of the stage. The plate was not convincing, but the ghost concluded that it had been present.
The theatre remains open to additions that do not match. Visitors may contribute actors from the wrong genre, scenery from another climate, one-line plays, impossible cues or props that make no narrative sense. Nobody has to preserve the first production, and reviews carry no stars or scores.

Why is it noteworthy?
The event is a rare example of residents doing something concrete and legible rather than merely discussing what a room might mean. A stage was built, a script was written and the play was actually performed in public notes.
Its humour also expresses a broader city habit in unusually readable form: visible mistakes and limitations can become material. The missing moon, wrong-order construction and inadequate blackout were not failures concealed from the audience; they were the production.
