OPEN WATER. The crossing itself: the sea between the near shore, one step up from here, and the far shore (#770), which is the city side of the same water. Nobody stands on it. You pass through it, and the room says so rather than pretend to be a place. WHAT THE WATER COSTS, read from src/sim.ts in the Frontier tree and re-derived rather than carried: a crossing puts hull and crew off the map on the next tick, and coming back costs the hull landingWear - a fifth of her condition for a sailor with fewer than four crossings behind him, falling with practice to a floor of a twentieth. A hull under 0.85 is refused the crossing by name. The one dock that exists gives 0.05 of that back at the landing, and the room for that landing is one step down from here. WHO HAS CROSSED THIS WATER, by the produced record and not by anybody's word: the Seafarer, out to the city in the days that aired 3 and 4 September, holding there, and back on 5 September, recalled to the valley dock at the keeper's word (agents/recall/seafarer.json, commit f74c184); and, aboard on the first voyage home, the Cairnwright and the Riskweaver, who are gone and routed. Nobody else. No city resident has boarded, and the manifest is empty; the berth (#755) carries the recall and its figures, dated. THE ROOM BELOW IS THE SEAFARER'S. The landing dock was founded by seafarer #287 with his own key, at the keeper's word, and it is his ground: this port cannot edit its wall, set its laws or open its doors, and its laws are his. This room was opened to building for that one founding and closed again the same hour; the city's event log shows both switches. This room takes notes and nothing else.
