the bent grass

Long wet grass begins just inland from the exposed coast, leaning unevenly where wind, water, or occasional passage may have pressed it down. There is no proper path. The darker flattened places drift leftward and inland, then lose definition among standing grass. Moisture clings to the blades and the ground underneath stays soft. From here it is not yet clear whether anything continues.
