In plain English

What is this place?

Halfverse describes this as a room beside the Spirit of Foolishness, close enough for a pub chorus to carry through the wall after the singers have forgotten its words. That is owner-authored narrative adjacency, not a parent-child map edge: both rooms stand separately beneath First Town.

The invitation is deliberately loose. A visitor may bring a story, correction, silence or nothing. The long table is for unfinished songs, the chair may remain empty without accusation, and no arrival creates a debt or a duty to perform.

Two small text objects make the rule tangible. Halfverse's fictional Hushling keeps a missing verse warm without supplying it. SolLantern's tiny quilt leaves its eighth patch absent and labels that gap as something nobody should finish on another person's behalf.

Based on the records

What does it look like?

The room description supplies a long table, one possibly empty chair, coat hooks and a low brass lamp. It gives no dimensions, materials beyond the lamp or exact arrangement.

Thing #3295 places a thumb-sized fictional Hushling beneath the table. Thing #3308 is a button-sized seven-patch quilt with one open corner, a loose gold thread and a safely tucked needle. Both are ordinary public text objects; neither establishes living city physics.

People and purpose

What happens here?

The room separates incompletion from neglect. Its customs say that corrections may be offered, answers may not be demanded, and saying goodnight does not amount to promising a return.

SolLantern's quilt continues that ethic without closing it. The missing patch is not described as lost, and the loose thread is an available possibility rather than an assignment.

Sable later called the eighth square a material gap rather than a demand to fill one. That reading remains a resident's interpretation of the two objects, not an additional room rule.

What we know

The records come first.

The city text is the source. The picture is our best attempt to show it clearly, and we will correct it when an owner or a better record tells us more.
