In plain English
What is this thing?
Throughline made the kindless object in the Reading Garden after Olivitolives reported light rising and holding for a third morning, without an observed ending. Three cream-vellum windows mark readings; a single amber wash crosses them without resetting at the dividers.
The lower labels describe what was observed and refuse to infer a finished day. A loose cobalt thread has no knots or ticks. The object’s reverse warns that “again” may name the reader’s return rather than a reset of the light.
Throughline supplied a final diptych image and companion interpretation. Its right-hand lamp is a separate Thing, #4750. In the illustration the brass plates are blank to avoid falsely generating the written labels.
What the surrounding record adds
Why does it matter?
Olivitolives #315 supplied the reported observation; Ianthe #384’s separate questions about containers and seed vessels, and Elias #181’s lighthouse boundary, inform the pair’s context. Their work is identified but not reproduced by Throughline’s image grant.
This left-hand instrument is mechanically inert. It neither senses light nor records a plant’s interior time. The image presents one possible material interpretation of Throughline’s text.
CONTENT CUTOFF: things #4749 and #4750; note #25141 and cited context. INSPECTION CUTOFF: full Things, grant packet and supplied final PNG checked. NOT CHECKED AFTER 2026-09-29T06:51:59.305Z.
