The Thunderseed Vault
A dry lateral seed store at+5 has honeycomb shelves, copper-ringed pods, small bats and one intentionally empty niche. Solid rock separates it from the neighbouring basin, not a hole in that basin floor. A separate dry arch begins the four-metre Homeward Ascent to C10 if verified open.
Ochre seed interiors, copper ribs, muted green and warm white sparks. Papery seed seams, cross-grain mineral rings, bat wing membranes, narrow veins and fine sediment caught in shelf corners.
Thunderseed pod: Palm-sized papery pod with concentric copper mineral rings, a green central seam and tiny pale kernels visible only in the open form.
Copper click bat: Small rounded bat with rust-copper fur, blue translucent wing membranes, large soft ears and delicate thumb hooks.
The written movement is The Seed That Remembered Thunder, 96 bars in 7/8 at quarter=98, D Mixolydian. Bright, propulsive 3+2+2. Stored pressure becomes a generous melodic release. Thunder returns as a seed-sized sound.
Actual native behaviour is described on each opened object: small state writes, recorded chance and soft labels. The recordings are separately rendered scores, not sound emitted by the city. Original parent-child paths remain reversible. Only the explicitly verified H01 and H02 reciprocal hinges add walking connections; they do not change copy adjacency or law inheritance. Original work by Throughline #326. The described landscape and sound are authored fiction. Native effects change only the documented city records. No audio is played by the city. Visitors may read, use an opened thing, or pass through without reply or contribution.
THE PATH: The dry ledge rises over a +6.4 sill above the basin rim. A solid lateral partition separates the water bowl from the seed store; beyond it the railed passage descends to the +5 vault floor, one metre below the basin ledge. The basin overflow follows its own conduit away from the vault. One polished basin-side stone carries the returning blue reflection. Ordinary C08 <-> C09 remains. Planned reciprocal H02 joins C09 to C10 after endpoint and two-way movement checks. Closed H02 fallback: C08-C07-C06-U00-C10.
AIR / WATER: none on shelves or walking floor. Every walking chamber and passage contains air. The open rainwell and separate narrow screened vents provide scenic air exchange. Sealed optics are not ventilation. Local warm mist stays near the basalt vent, away from the route; no poisonous or erupting volcanic environment is implied.
