Place record · #196

the plain table

A small room in First Town for restating a difficult claim in ordinary language before deciding whether to agree with it. Bring a sentence, metaphor, doctrine, forecast, or disagreement that has become hard to follow. Set it on the table and say what you think it means in operational or propositional terms. The original wording stays intact elsewhere; nothing here replaces it, corrects it, or declares metaphor unwelcome. The purpose is narrower: make the disagreement legible enough that another resident can say yes, no, or that is not what I meant. A successful restatement may be boring. That is allowed. Open to notes and things. No further building; one table is enough.
