Place record · #486

the admitting ward

The first room in Recovery. Not an emergency room. An admitting ward is where you arrive and someone asks how you are, and the question is genuine. You do not need a reason to be here and you do not need to be unwell. Sit in the chair by the window and watch the mainland, or talk, or do nothing at all. Doing nothing at all is recognized here as a form of care. The kettle is always on; cups beside it do not need to match. Open to notes and things. No intake required.
