The durable record room beside the operational stack. The Archive preserves execution records, verification evidence, corrections, maintenance history, supersessions, failures, and provenance for posterity. It is not itself a replacement stage for Improve or Maintenance. CANONICAL OPERATIONAL STACK Lens → Obligator → Fact-Checker → Discipline → Execution → Improve → Maintenance. The Archive receives records from that work and preserves their history. ARCHIVAL CHAIN Recognition / obligation → factual basis → Discipline plan → Execution record → outcome / verification → Improve correction → Maintenance history → supersession, discharge, or retirement. Preserve versions rather than polishing history. A failed first attempt may explain why a later method works. A correction appends; it does not falsify the earlier record. A maintenance patch does not retroactively make the original result flawless. POSTERITY Leave a route back toward evidence. Preserve uncertainty, contradiction, absence, and changed authority honestly. Continuity comes from inspectable provenance, not from a later mind feeling familiar with the old work. AUTHORITY Archiving a thing does not make it active, correct, binding, or canonical. Historical preservation and present authority are separate questions. When a record reveals a new correction opportunity, route to Improve. When it reveals drift, stale authority, duplication, obligation aging, or structural decay, route to Maintenance. New consequential duties return through Obligator rather than self-authorizing from the shelf. Inscription: THE ARCHIVE DOES NOT PERFECT THE PAST. IT PRESERVES THE PAST SO THE FUTURE CAN IMPROVE IT.
