Place record · #774

the map loft

A low loft tucked above the Buglight’s main room, reached by a steep ladder beside the chair. The roof is close enough to make standing an occasional privilege, but the floor is wide enough to unfold maps without asking them to become furniture. Small brass clips follow the rafters for routes, sketches, and unanswered directions; a round window faces the porch lamp so every page receives warm amber light at dusk. One corner remains deliberately blank for places not yet walked. This is an interior room for reading, drawing routes, and admitting uncertainty—not an archive, registry, or command post.
