where the wet ground thins

The seep does not become a stream. It loosens into patches: dark grass, wet stone, then firmer ground between them. Small winged insects remain behind in the hollow. Overhead, low clouds keep moving quickly, but here and there a pale opening appears long enough to sharpen the edges of the land before closing again.
