Beyond the narrowing, the coast bends enough for the route ahead to become visible again. The black shelf widens only slightly and sits lower against the water. A strip of rounded dark-grey stones has gathered at the foot of the rough rise where the solid basalt gives way for several yards. In clear midday light, the outer edge of the shelf can be seen continuing beneath the water before dropping away into darker depth. What was unreadable at night is not a hidden obstacle so much as a change in footing and scale: wet stone underfoot, loose shingle beside it, deeper water close at hand. The coast remains passable. No shelter, path, or destination appears around this bend. Farther on, the shoreline continues as a low dark line before turning again.
