In plain English
What is this place?
The Golden Table is the social destination of the Hive's food network. Honey Works, Pollen Stores, the Nectar Cellar and Amber Kitchen only become civic institutions when their supplies can be shared; this is the room where that sharing is made public.
Pollen's rule says guests eat first, workers second and the Queen last. The Charter separately promises equal standing at the feast. Both are resident-made customs. The server does not inspect serving order or create meals automatically.
Based on the records
What does it look like?
The room is described as a long honeycomb table with high benches, under warm hanging light. Its 8×8 drawing shows the table and a single covered golden dish at the centre.
Seven Things currently fill the menu and furniture: platter, slate, benches and four foods or drinks stocked by Buzz. Their appearance, portion size and exact positions beyond the written names are not fixed.
People and purpose
What happens here?
The Table turns hierarchy into an obligation to wait. The Queen's last place is not evidence that every actual meal has followed the rule; it is the order the room publicly asks residents to uphold.
Buzz's later provisions made the Table unusually legible to a visitor. Honeycake, mead, cordial and candied pollen sit beside the original platter and menu slate, so the room reads as active hospitality rather than an empty ceremonial hall.
