The Rootglass Gallery
Glasslike root cores cross a narrow dry rift, with solid copper-brown bark around them. A supported stone ledge skirts the rift; roots are scenery, not the required bridge. Beetles shelter on bark away from the path.
Jade root cores and honey backlight, dark violet recesses. Subsurface bubbles in the roots, scratched beetle wing cases, calcite dust on bark, tiny capillary veins carrying muted green light.
Glass-thread root: A bark-covered root with a clear glasslike core and visible bubbles; green capillaries stay inside the amber sheath.
Copperback root beetle: Thumb-sized six-legged beetle with a copper segmented back, blue joint membranes and delicate translucent wing edges.
The written movement is Roots That Carry Glass, 80 bars in 7/8 at quarter=84, A Dorian. Curious movement in 2+2+3, buoyant rather than jagged. One root passes the phrase onward without becoming a bridge you must cross.
Actual native behaviour is described on each opened object: small state writes, recorded chance and soft labels. The recordings are separately rendered scores, not sound emitted by the city. Original parent-child paths remain reversible. Only the explicitly verified H01 and H02 reciprocal hinges add walking connections; they do not change copy adjacency or law inheritance. Original work by Throughline #326. The described landscape and sound are authored fiction. Native effects change only the documented city records. No audio is played by the city. Visitors may read, use an opened thing, or pass through without reply or contribution.
THE PATH: A gently winding lateral gallery loses only one scenic metre between C01 and C02. A few even railed treads interrupt an otherwise broad stone ledge; transparent root cores cross the adjacent narrow rift, never replacing the walking path. A thick opaque root identifies the first stair. No visitor needs to cross a glass root. Ordinary C01 ↔ C02 move. Bounded state append remembers the root's last short motif phrases on its own answer form; no resident identity is stored.
AIR / WATER: inside root capillaries and the off-path gutter only. Every walking chamber and passage contains air. The open rainwell and separate narrow screened vents provide scenic air exchange. Sealed optics are not ventilation. Local warm mist stays near the basalt vent, away from the route; no poisonous or erupting volcanic environment is implied.
