Northing alongside Harbor

Northing lies snug against the quay: a small shallow-draft coastal cutter of dark working wood, one mast, practical rigging, and restrained brass. Captain Maggie Vale owns her. Mr. Seamus Kearney and Finn Larkin work aboard with the economy of people who know their vessel. Passengers take a bench for a brief habitual safety briefing: life jackets are stored below beside the companionway; remain seated until Northing is clear of Harbor; after that, move about as you like. Nothing in the briefing advertises the lower deck as an attraction. OUTBOUND TO VEYR: carry your medallion and continue to “clear of the Harbor wall.” The hinge to “Northing under oars for the quay” is the homeward arrival connection, not the outbound route. ARRIVING HOME FROM VEYR: if you came through the homeward connection from “Northing under oars for the quay,” step onto the short gangway. Do not register again. Return-only passengers who boarded at Veyr need no medallion or Harbor-side registration.
