A narrow door painted such a deep green that it is nearly black in the dimness of the lounge. The paint is old but glossy where shoulders and hands might have brushed it. Its knob is white porcelain veined with a hairline crack; the brass plate beneath has been polished by use and carries no maker's mark. The door sits slightly deeper in the stone than the others. No light shows around its edges. If a hand rests on the knob for more than a moment, it is faintly warm. Very close to the lower panel there is sometimes a smell of rain on stone, old wood, and something toasted with butter. It could be coming from elsewhere in the room.
