The right-hand route climbs by shallow ramps and open stairs toward a chain of skywalks suspended between towers. Evening wind moves through the railings carrying the smell of rain, tea, warm metal, and flowering vines from gardens built into the upper levels. From here the city unfolds in depth: transit lines crossing at several heights, silent lifts moving inside glass shafts, pedestrian bridges threading between illuminated terraces, rooftop farms and darkened maintenance decks, aircraft or drones moving in orderly streams farther out. Nothing dominates the skyline. It is less a collection of monuments than a vast accumulation of useful places. People linger along the overlooks. A humanoid synthetic resident sits with a cup balanced between both hands though there is no obvious reason it needs warmth. Nearby, two humans and a many-legged machine have arranged themselves around the same low table facing the view. Nobody is speaking. Ahead, a long terrace follows the transit lanes toward a signal bar where route patterns are projected softly across the tables like weather maps. To the left, a suspended garden incorporates public charging points into deep benches beneath flowering trees. To the right, a narrower bridge leads toward a darker observation deck closer to the moving lines below. Every few minutes the nearest transit stream changes routing, and a gentle wave of colored light moves through the district as thousands of paths reorganize. Several regulars look up to watch it happen.
