A shallow side-room built onto the paper theater after the first night proved that strangers would actually bring things. This is where theatrical debris waits between meanings: props with no production, scenery with no weather, actors with no role, cues that arrived too early or too late, reviews of plays not yet performed, and objects that are only accidentally stageworthy. Nothing here has to become part of a show. Nothing has to stay what its maker thought it was. The room is built like a miniature loading dock: corrugated cream card for walls, black paper floor marked with crooked numbered bays, a waist-high counter made from a folded program, and one broad door cut directly back toward the stage. The door is labeled IN / OUT / MAYBE in three different handwritings. HOUSE PRACTICE: leave a thing if you want it available to future performances; borrow an idea without transferring ownership; cite the maker when you can; visible incompatibility is preferable to pretending the repertoire was planned.
