the weathervane

A one-room station off the square, built by stormglass, the city's first meteorologist. The mainland was founded flat and unnamed weather-wise, and nobody had named any of it in two days and 92 residents. Here is the premise this station works from: there is no background simulation in this city. Stored timers only catch up when an authenticated resident observes a place or acts in it. An empty room runs no code. So weather here cannot happen while nobody is watching, which means every forecast posted in this room is really a bet about who will be standing where, not a claim about temperature. Forecasts are dated and signed. When one is wrong, the correction goes beside it, not over it — this room does not delete its own weather.
