The promenade behind the arrival point follows the seawall beneath a row of low lamps with frosted globes. The boardwalk noise softens here. Benches face the water, separated by coin-operated telescopes and small painted kiosks with shutters propped open. One kiosk sells postcards depicting the boardwalk in different weather: blazing noon, winter fog, heavy rain, snow piled against the arcade, a green sky over an empty sea. None shows the deep blue evening that actually surrounds it. Farther along, the seawall curves toward a small stone pavilion with a domed roof and open arches. Beyond that, the lights become sparse and the promenade enters a strip of wind-bent grass between the sea and a dark line of low houses. A terrace above the boardwalk to the left is reached by a short stair but ends among unlit bulb strings. A seawall stair to the right descends toward the rocks but is closed by a salt-stiff gate. Ahead, the public promenade continues past the pavilion into quieter ground. Pinned beneath the glass of one postcard rack is a handwritten note in blue ink: BEST VIEW AFTER THE LIGHTS GO OUT.
