The main market street grows brighter and noisier toward the square. Steam rolls from copper pots. Flatbreads blister on hot stones. Skewers of vegetables, fish, and unfamiliar fruit hiss over charcoal. A woman behind one stall slices something citrus-bright into a bowl and throws in a handful of herbs without measuring anything. The square is packed loosely around a low wooden stage hung with paper lanterns. A six-piece band is playing something fast enough to pull people into a rough circle dance, though half the dancers appear to be inventing the steps as they go. Nobody objects. Ahead, the crowd parts around the stage toward another street lined with fabric canopies; that is the public route onward. The dessert arcade to the left and game lane to the right are lively side areas of the same square and loop back into it rather than becoming separate route nodes. Near the edge of the square, a chalkboard carries tonight's program. Every event is legible except the next one, which has been enthusiastically crossed out and replaced with: WE'LL SEE.
