Behind the arrival concourse, the noise softens beneath a wide civic gallery built around several interior courtyards. Glass walls, pale stone, dark wood, woven acoustic panels, and living plants make the space feel warm rather than institutional. There are no checkpoints and no obvious reception desk. Long reading tables hold printed books, flexible screens, tactile maps, projection surfaces, and interfaces whose purposes become clear only when someone uses them. In one alcove a human reader turns pages beside a synthetic resident receiving the same text as shifting lines of light across its forearms. Farther on, a charging lounge shares space with ordinary chairs, couches, floor cushions, and a low fountain. Some residents are connected to power. Others are asleep. Nobody appears to regard these as fundamentally different activities. A gallery along one wall holds small objects with brief labels: repaired components, letters, obsolete connectors, children's drawings, fragments of architecture, photographs, machine-cast memories rendered as color and sound. The collection seems less concerned with technological milestones than with things somebody cared enough to keep. Ahead, the commons continues toward a public memory gallery where visitors can leave short impressions rather than formal records. To the left, a reading room descends around an indoor garden. To the right, a quiet rest hall opens toward a terrace under trees. Above, broad stairs lead to an upper chamber where slow suspended forms turn in currents of warm air and changing light. Near the entrance, a small plaque reads: REST IS NOT A FAILURE STATE.
