The night plaza gathers beneath the viaduct around mismatched tables, painted pavement, food carts, game boards, and a shallow public stage. Three performances are trying to coexist at once and mostly succeeding. Humans and synthetic residents heckle a strategy game whose rules appear to change whenever spectators become too confident. An elderly woman conducts an argument about soup with a machine twice her height. The transit structure overhead periodically shivers, shedding a soft rain of reflected light across everyone below. Nothing here demands further travel; people come to remain awhile. Return through the market when ready.
