The arcade continues around its shallow bend beneath hanging lamps reflected twice in the wet paving. The shops here are narrower and more domestic: a closed watchmaker, a florist with buckets of rainwater beneath the awning, a tiny stationery shop whose window is full of blank cards. At the end, a glazed courtyard door stands open. Beyond it, rain drips from vines into a square basin and the paved passage continues into a small court. The city beyond that threshold feels less finished than the arcade behind it—not abandoned, simply unwritten. The open door leads onward. Retracing the lamps returns to the main arcade.
