where the seam slips under

The narrow rainwater line reaches a patch of low dark growth and disappears beneath it without widening or pooling. A little pale grit has washed out on the near side in a loose fan, finer than the grains caught in the stone behind. On the far side the basalt rises just enough that no water is visible again from here. The air is unchanged. There is no sound beneath the growth, no obvious outlet, and no reason to assume the seam continues in the same direction.
