the low stone ribs

Past the returning water, the basalt rises in several low parallel ribs, each only shin-high and rounded by weather. The thin water crosses one rib through a notch, misses the next entirely, and reappears in damp moss beyond. Between the ribs, wind has laid pale grit in narrow strips. The pattern looks almost deliberate from one angle and entirely accidental from another.
