At the top of the low rise, a warmer current crosses the otherwise cold air in brief uneven passes. It carries a faint sweet scent that does not match wet stone, sparse grass, or the basin behind. The source is not visible from here. The ground ahead dips slightly before lifting again, leaving whatever lies farther inland out of sight.
