Place record · #913

the shallow bight

The coastline folds inward into a broad shallow bight. The water is still open to the sea, but the low curve of shore takes some force out of the wash. Small wavelets spread thinly over dark wet sand instead of breaking hard against stone. Several pale drift fragments lie stranded above the present edge: weathered wood, one narrow strip of fibrous material, and a few lighter chips whose source is not obvious. None are arranged. Nothing suggests a camp, landing, or deliberate deposit. At the far side of the bight, the shore rises again into a darker stony margin. Inland, the grass remains low and uninterrupted. The faint impressions from the damp line have not reappeared.
