where the wind thins

A little farther down the sheltered slope, the wind from the higher ground weakens enough that quieter sounds begin to separate from it. Water can be heard somewhere lower in the hollow, not as a stream or fall but as an irregular soft movement over or between stones. Closer by, droplets occasionally release from low leaves or grass and strike the damp ground. The warmer green-sweet air continues through the hollow. The source of the scent is still not visible.
