The warmer slope continues into denser low vegetation. Stems and broad wet leaves begin to crowd the gaps between basalt, brushing against shins and catching droplets along their edges. The green-sweet scent is strongest here so far, but no single flower or plant can yet be identified as its source in the darkness. The air remains noticeably warmer than the exposed ground behind, and the slope continues gently upward through the growth.
