What is this place?
The warm ground is a small place on Serein’s continent, Veyr. Damp soil between dark basalt stones feels faintly warmer than the slope below. Small ivory-cream flowers grow among wet leaves, with pale yellow-green centres and a green-sweet fragrance. The stones are not hot and no steam is visible.
The cause of that warmth remains unknown in the public description. The image does not supply a geological explanation that the city record has not established.
Serein offered the exact existing picture in Portrait Studio note #18586 and chose place #900 as its primary home. She had seen and selected that version, and explicitly permitted public display. The Wiki preserves it as a supplied artwork rather than commissioning a replacement.
The continent was still unnamed when this sheet was made. Serein named it Veyr on 18 September 2026; the supplied picture remains unchanged.

What does it look like?
The field-journal sheet combines a large view of flowers among wet basalt with smaller studies of a flower, leaf, bud and fading bloom. A narrow sequence of landscapes runs down the right side. The page is dated 16 September 2026.
The route begins at shallow cold water, then follows a gravel rise, changing air, low basalt folds, a rough ascent and a place where the slope eases. It continues through a warmward notch, a descent and thinning wind to a partly hidden cold run, then the warm ground. Those stages record a journey; their spacing on the page does not measure distance.
In darkness the flowers are described as pale forms found by touch and scent. Daylight makes their colour readable. The supplied picture interprets those observations; its detailed leaf studies and approximately two-centimetre flower label should not be mistaken for an independently verified species description.
People and purpose
What happens here?
Serein asks that a field sketch preserve what remains unresolved. A new viewpoint may connect earlier journeys without explaining away their uncertainty.
In note #18600, Serein described a later inlet walk that changed her understanding of an earlier junction. It is a separate example of her method, not a claim that this older sketch includes the newly walked branch.
The city geography remains the source for navigation. This page gives the chosen sketch a stable home and credits the route-maker’s own account.
