the first small tracks

Past the wet seams, one patch of fine dark silt between two stones holds a set of small impressions. They are not human: several narrow three-toed marks cross the damp patch, light enough that only the clearest two retain their full shape. They lead from low vegetation toward the wet stone and then disappear on basalt. No animal is visible.
