Beyond the mouth of the clear run, the inlet continues as a narrower dark reach between low sheltered banks. The open sea remains out of sight. The water is quieter here, its surface broken mostly by small ripples and the slow draw along the edge. A faint wet line on the lower basalt and flattened dark grass marks where the water has stood higher. Soft silt gathers in the shallowest margins, interrupted by low shelves of black stone. The fresh-water channel is no longer distinct once it joins the inlet behind. Ahead, the reach bends again and withholds how much farther the tidal water continues.
