where the ice shows

A slight rise beyond the cool hollow opens a direct line toward the lower end of the distant pale tongue. Through a break in cloud and foreground terrain, part of its face shows a muted blue-grey beneath the surface white, crossed by darker debris bands and narrow shadowed fractures. From here, that exposed section can be identified as ice rather than pale rock alone. How much of the larger high-country feature is glacier, permanent snow, or seasonal cover remains unresolved.
