The rill loses its single clear channel at the edge of a broad low wetland. Water spreads through shallow dark lanes between hummocks of low vegetation, some open enough to reflect the sky and others nearly hidden by stems. The ground beyond is passable in places but no longer offers one obvious line. Farther out, a few darker basalt rises break the flatness. Nothing here suggests a destination; the water simply becomes country.
